GRODZISK WIELKOPOLSKI, Poland. Sept 2 (PS) — Sebastian Boenisch on Saturday will have his first chance to play on the Polish national team, which will close the door to play in a team vice-world Germany.
The Werder Bremen player admitted that the German national team was his priority, but the determination of Franciszek Smuda was what persuaded him not to wait longer at the invitation of Joachim Loew.

Additional information is trickling in about the proposed USA friendly against Poland on Oct. 9: A tentative deal is in place and Soldier Field in Chicago -- home to the largest Polish-American population -- is, indeed, the top choice to host the match. (It's a money-maker for the USSF.) When the teams met there in the summer of 2004 for a 1-1 draw, attendance was 39,529. As we told you exclusively Saturday, the USSF is also attempting to arrange friendlies Oct. 12 (against Colombia at a U.S. venue) and Nov. 17 (unspecified opponent).

Już we wtorkowy wieczór w Pradze dojdzie do pojedynku tamtejszej Sparty z Lechem Poznań. Mistrz Czech wydaje się być zdecydowanym faworytem tej rywalizacji, a zdanie to potwierdzają bukmacherzy, u których na jego zwycięstwie można zarobić 3 razy mniej niż na wygranej Polaków. Sęk w tym, że podopieczni Jozefa Chovaneca nie prezentują podobnie jak Lechici zbyt wysokiej formy, tak więc spotkanie powinno być wyrównane...

In a friendly match played in Kielce the Polish national team drew with Finland 0:0.The match is the first friendly out of a series of three friendlies before the FIFA World Cup in South Africa begins.
The Poles have created a lot of favorable situations to score a nice set of goals, but could not find a way to beat Finland's goalkeeper Otto Fredrikson.
This was the first tie by Franciszek Smuda in the role of coach for Poland and the debut of FC Koln midfielder Adam Matuszczyk, along with Artur Sobiech and Przemysław Tyton.
"It's a shame we could not squeeze in a W in the final minutes of the game. Fortunately, everyone on the team played well and I like what I saw. I may make a few changes when we go up against Serbia, and I may not. I will start finalizing these things during practice." said Poland coach Franciszek Smuda after the game.
"I like anyone else want us to start winning. We were really unlucky today, and I hope to try and work with the players about this in the next training. For now I am most happy to see the team can play my attacking football well."

Marcin Wasilewski wrócił na boisko po ośmiomiesięcznej przerwie spowodowanej otwartym złamaniem nogi. Obrońca Anderlechtu Bruksela zagrał osiem minut w sobotnim meczu belgijskiej ekstraklasy z Sint-Truidense V.V. Zespół Polaka zwyciężył 2:1, a reprezentant Polski wzniósł w górę puchar będący nagrodą za zdobycie mistrzostwa kraju przez swój klub.
Wasilewski pauzował od 30 sierpnia 2009 roku z powodu bardzo brutalnego faulu zawodnika Standardu Liege Axela Witsela. W sobotę popularny "Wasyl" pojawił się na boisku przy stanie 2:1 dla gospodarzy. Zmienił czeskiego obrońcę Jana Polaka, który w sierpniu ub. r. również musiał opuścić boisko z powodu poważnego urazu.
Kibice zgromadzeni na trybunach stadionu nagrodzili wejście Wasilewskiego na płytę boiska gromkimi brawami i owacją na stojąco.

Łukasz Podolski w sobotnim meczu Bundesligi pomiędzy 1.FC Koeln a Hoffenheim wystąpił z czarną opaską na ramieniu. W ten sposób wyraził swój smutek i oddał hołd ofiarom katastrofy rządowego samolotu pod Smoleńskiem. Szokujący jest fakt, że zrobił to wbrew namowom menedżera klubu z Kolonii Michaela Meiera.

Legia head to the USA on May 18. From May 19 to 22, they'll be playing in a tournament in Chicago with Chicago Fire, Paris St. Germain and Crvena Zvezda Belgrade. The Fire had Legia alumni Roman Koscecki and Jerzy Podbrozny.
Zaraz po zakończeniu sezonu piłkarze Legii polecą na towarzyski turniej do USA. - Zawsze chciałem zobaczyć Amerykę. Tam jeszcze nie byłem - stwierdził Marcin Mięciel, jeden z najbardziej doświadczonych zawodników.
Legioniści do Stanów Zjednoczonych wylecą 18 maja. Od 19 do 22 w Chicago rozegrają towarzyski turniej, w którym ich rywalami będą Chicago Fire, Paris St. Germain i Crvena Zvezda Belgrad. W druzynie Fire w przeszłości występowali byli piłkarze Legii, Roman Kosecki i Jerzy Podbrożny. Jezeli beda chetni klub White Eagle zorganizuje wyjazd na ten turniej.
