PONTIAC, MICH. —July 28, 2010—When two of Europe ’s premier professional soccer teams play at the Silverdome next week, will attendees and TV viewers hear the now-famous drone of vuvuzela noisemakers? PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) -- The Pontiac Silverdome will host its first major soccer match in 16 years when European clubs A.C. Milan and Panathinaikos meet on Aug. 6.
The Silverdome was the host to four first-round games during the 1994 World Cup -- the first time World Cup matches had been played indoors -- but the stadium has mainly sat empty since the Pittsburgh Steelers used it as their practice facility for the 2006 Super Bowl.
The Silverdome, which started hosting events again this spring, was scheduled to host an international tournament in May, but it was canceled because of poor ticket sales and visa problems for some of the teams.
A.C. Milan finished third in Italy's Serie A this season, nine points behind archrival Inter Milan. Panathinaikos won the Greek league.

Clarence Seedorf scored at the start of the second half, and the Milan defense made the former Dutch international’s tally stand up, giving the Italian giants a 1-0 victory over the Fire in front of a sellout crowd of 20,356 at Toyota Park Sunday night.
Seedorf gave Milan the lead in the 47th minute. Fire center back C.J. Brown failed to clear a bouncing ball on the left side of the box and the Brazilian took full advantage. He pounced on the loose ball and slotted home from a tight angle past charging Fire keeper Andrew Dykstra.

In their last match in the 2009/2010 season, Legia defeated Chicago Fire 3:0. The scorers were Maciej Iwański and Sebastian Szałachowski. Owing to their win, Legia were ranked third in the Sisters Cities Cup.

Detroit United wins dramatic shootout and Polish Team AAC Eagles lost
After 16 goals and two penalty kick shootouts, the USASA has booked their first two teams for the 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Detroit United finished extra time tied 5-5 with 402 Academy, but emerged victorious in a PK shootout, while the KC Athletics finished overtime locked up at 3-3 before winning their own PK contest. Both teams are first time qualifiers to the tournament.

Open Cup Regional Semi-final Detroit United Vs Nebraska 406
This Sat. 5/15 at 6PM at Ultimate Soccer Arena a fellow member of the MPSL Detroit United will play Nebraska 406 Academy in an open cup game. This should be a good game to see and it would be nice to support your fellow member. Detroit United traveled to Wisconsin and beat a very good Milwaukee Kickers 1-0 to earn this game. Please try to get your team out to support United.

The World Cup-bound Ghana national team will be one of four teams participating in an international soccer tournament at the Silverdome on May 20-21.Ghana will use the Green Soccer Bowl as a tune-up before it plays in the World Cup in June. Teams from Kenya, Malaysia and Puerto Rico also will participate.Tickets will be $25 per day and will go on sale the first week of March

The state-of-the-art soccer-specific facility, currently under construction in Harrison, New Jersey, will be the new home of the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer (MLS).The overall seating capacity for soccer matches at Red Bull Arena will be 25,189, including 30 luxury suites (20 lower level and 10 upper level) and 1,116 club seats.

The MSYSA State Cup is the first level of competition in the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series. Teams who win the State Cup earn the right to represent Michigan at regional and potentially national competitions. In the State Cup, each team plays three self-scheduled games. Teams who do well will advance to the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and then eventually the Finals. In the spring, the tournament is open to U13 & U19 Girls, and U13-U19 Boys teams. All MSYSA affiliated teams who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. While not all teams will be accepted, those who do will have the opportunity to partake in some of the best competition in Michigan!

Jagiellonia Bialystok defender Krzysztof Krol has received an offer to play for the Chicago Fire. The Bialystok club does not exclude the possibility that the footballer may move overseas.
Krol may move to the MLS this winter window
About the proposal from the United States Jagiellonia vice president C.Kulesza announced on Białystok's Gazeta Wyborcza.
"The Chicago Fire have made us a proposal to loan Krol for a year, with the option of permanently signing with the club, and it is possibly we will accept this offer," said Kulesza.
